May 27, 2015 marks ten years since the release of Showroom‘s seminal (and final) album The World Is Too Much With Us.
Recorded and produced by Michael Chambers (later known as moon:and:6), the album showcased the band’s trademark infectious pop. PopMatters praised the release, noting guitarist Rory Lindsay’s shimmering, jangly leads and lead singer Ben Hutchinson’s sharp lyrical wit.
And therein lays Showroom’s forte—melding catchy riffs, bouncy drumbeats, and impeccable lyric writing. Clearly, the four members of the band grew up listening to classic pop, for only music fanatics could make an album with such perfect hooks. –PopMatters
