Emilio Bonito crafts intricate instrumental songs that fuse acoustic fingerstyle guitar with avant-garde, indie folk and pop culture influences. Recorded and produced by Michael Chambers (SØLYS/moon:and:6), Bonito’s music pays homage to the works of other fingerstyle greats such as Antoine Dufour, Andy McKee, Calum Graham, Don Ross, and Dylan Ryche.
Born and raised in Hamilton, Canada, Emilio Bonito began playing the piano at the age of 4. A decade of piano training from the Royal Conservatory of Music provided the young artist with a solid musical foundation. After picking up the guitar at age 9, the young musician began developing his own repertoire based on expansive tastes that grew to include avant-garde metal, progressive rock, indie folk, and psychedelic pop. “Everything from The Mars Volta to Fleet Foxes and Bon Iver,” explains Bonito.
Bonito’s music fuses his eclectic influences into an artful mix of new and old. CBC Radio described his debut single “Marth” as “a great example of contemporary fingerstyle guitar.” Subsequent releases including “Augusto”, “Chrysanthemum” and “Tenderly” have explored themes of rumination, introspection and personal discovery.
