“Hope” by Hamilton, Canada-based producer and multi-instrumentalist SØLYS (Michael Chambers) is a soft atmospheric piano piece. This understated yet enchanting piece was performed on an mellow upright piano, and layered with ambient synth textures. The calm and restrained performance helps reminds us the future is full of promise. The perfect backdrop for studying, concentration, or quiet contemplation.
“Hope” was inspired by my morning walk in the park. Keeping that daily routine has helped me see the little changes that happen day to day, as well as the more dramatic changes season to season – as autumn turns to winter, or spring to summer. “Hope” is about capturing the pleasure in the simple things. It’s a very simple piece, but the layered synths textures give it depth. In a way, the piano is like the trunk and branches of a tree, and the synths act as the leaves that shimmer and change over time. –Michael Chambers (aka SØLYS)
