“Nocturne” by Hamilton, Canada-based composer and multi-instrumentalist SØLYS (Michael Chambers) is a quick yet gentle solo piano piece. Inspired by the works of John Field and Frédéric Chopin, SØLYS takes a minimalist modern approach to the nocturne form. The perfect fit for any romantic or contemporary classical piano playlist.
I am a real fan of romantic and post-romantic era classical music. One of the more popular forms during that time was the nocturne; simple, single movement piano pieces with a singable melody along with an arpeggiated accompaniment. Though not a nocturne by name, Nils Frahm’s Ambre fits the description nicely, and in addition to the romantic era composers Frahm was another inspiration for this track. –Michael Chambers (aka SØLYS)
