“toronto 2am” by Hamilton, Canada-based producer and multi-instrumentalist [zoethecat] is an introspective, laid-back release inspired by jazzy electronica and chillwave tracks. Late nights in a big city come to life through upright bass grooves, retro Fender Rhodes sounds, and blues guitar licks. The perfect track to put on after a night out.

With “toronto 2am” I tried to capture that feeling I remember of leaving a club late at night, after working a gig or seeing a show. I’m reminded of the solitude and liberation I’d feel walking the city streets in the middle of the night. The unconventional chillwave-inspired snare sample makes me envision neon lights flickering in the rain. The bluesy guitar licks make me think of walking past Grossman’s Tavern on Spadina Avenue in Toronto and hearing stray guitar lines escape whenever someone opened the door.
